Rapid demolition?
It all started pretty well. The guys were here before 7am and after a cup of tea in their container fit for a nuclear war, went to work with sledge hammers and chisels. It was time for the gas fire in the lounge/new kitchen to face the chop.
It was only after all the marble had been removed, with the fire hanging by the umbilical-cord-gas-pipe, the crew gave some thought to the gas supply. Now, you don't need to be a rocket scientist to understand that it's pretty important to isolate the gas supply before cutting the pipe. To their credit, they asked, but only once they "remembered". Luckily, it went OK and they're now waiting for a plumber to do the work - which should have been done long before they started.
The gas network guys have also appeared, after arriving a day early. Yesterday, they opened up the pavement and this morning they're using a "mole" to dig a channel for the new supply. However, the mole got stuck and now they're having to dig up the path... While the crazy paving was pretty shaky, it would have been nice to see the technology working, for a change.
