It's what dreams are made of and nightmares kindled: Most home owners aspire to it; some take a few tentative steps and fewer still are crazy enough to go the full hog! This blog shares some of the trials and tribulations of a major redevelopment of a 1950s home through a cataclysmic transformation which retains the best of the last Century while metamorposing the property into a design classic fit for today's living.

Site meeting

First post-start site meeting today with architect, structural engineer and construction company. Everything according to plan, so far! We've now received colour samples of the pre-coloured render to be applied to the outside of the extension. Should save us having to paint the walls for a loooooong time. May need an occasional wash though but that's a lot easier than having to employ an "arm and a leg" painting contractor. It's time to decide the colour: white, off-white, polar white, buttermilk, grey. It's worse than picking a car colour...

The guys have started digging the threnches for the new drains and we should be kicking these into action next week. The drains, not the guys.
