They did it!!! The brokers have just come up with the goods and we're covered for the existing house, contents and construction works. Phew! This has been a nightmare and if I ever knew the question of insurance was going to cause so much grief - after raising this issue with our existing insurers some seven weeks ago - I would have reconsidered the whole exercise. It's completely nuts that you have to spend so much time and energy to make this happen. Is it not time for the advisory and insurance community to tackle the prickly question of cover during building works head-on and make life slightly easier for clients?

Demolition squad, digger and trucks arriving on Monday. We're set for Day 0! Well, sort of! this weekend we need to empty the utility and cupboards. The tumble drier will live on the kitchen worktop for the next few weeks...
